VMC 3000 Series

The VMC-3000 Servo Motion Controller is ideal for single-axis control in systems requiring the ultimate in velocity stability and ultra-fast acceleration. Coupled with one of our LA series Linear Servo Amplifiers driving an air-bearing spindle, velocity stability performance of 0.0006% at 7,200RPM* (< 50nS) and acceleration to 15,000RPM in less than 1 sec is now possible!

As a single-axis linear servo amplifier motion controller, the VMC-3000 can be configured to operate in a variety of modes to match just about any application. Operating modes include: Position, Analog Velocity, and Analog Torque. Additionally, Digital Frequency-Locked Velocity and Digital Torque modes are available.

A built-in serial interface makes programming a simple task. With over 100 commands, there is enough flexibility to allow configuration and tuning for just about any application.

The design of these controllers includes an on-board high-speed DSP which provides the PID control for the various modes. Non-volatile memory provides storage of the parameters during power-off conditions.

A generous set of inputs and outputs allows the controller to handle a variety of control schemes, eliminating the need for external I/O controllers.

This module can also be configured to run the amplifier in torque mode using a +/-10VDC analog input and commutating from a motor mounted encoder.

*Tested with a Dover Revolution XLIII spindle at 7,200RPM with a single 65mm media payload.
